More than $1 Million worth of supplies stocked since 2008 - thank you Northeast Wisconsin!

"There is no better feeling than being clean!" That's what one of our 9 year old guests told me one day while I was working at the shelter.  She said "My hair is cleaned, my teeth are cleaned and I am beautiful!"  My response to her was "YOU most certainly are!"  - Erin Schultz, Executive Director, House of Hope

What: The Family’s ‘Help for the Homeless’ Hygiene Drive works with area homeless coalitions to stock the shelves of 51 area homeless and crisis programs in 10 communities so that they can dedicate their limited financial resources to providing qualified personnel, housing, food, education, and counseling to those they serve. The goal of Help for the Homeless is to supply a year’s worth of product to each agency (In many cases, this is happening! Last March $250,000 worth of products were donated).  Donations remain in the communities where they are collected.

Where: Brillion, Fox Cities, Fond du Lac, Green Bay, Manitowoc, Marshfield, Oconto/Marinette, Oshkosh, Sheboygan, Wausau

How: Drop donations off at Festival Foods Stores March 1-23 in 2014, OR, join more than 750 local businesses, churches, schools, and clubs who participate annually by placing collection boxes and posters in high traffic areas and inviting people to contribute. Print-ready fliers and blurbs to paste into newsletters/memos etc. are in the Information Kit below. (Kit contains 2013 information - to be updated in 2014)

Letter to the editor, Appleton Post Crescent April 4, 2012.

"What an amazing community!  Last week concluded the month-long annual "Help for the Homeless" campaign sponsored by 91.9/91.5 The Family and serving 14 local nonprofit agencies (in the Fox Cities), including COTS.

When one stops to consider the high cost of hygiene products, the expense of cleaning supplies and the rising prices of everything, it is no wonder that so many struggle today. At COTS, we are home to over 50 individuals each day. With the constant support and attention of this incredible community, we are able to continue our mission of 'Ending homelessness in the Fox Valley'.

This year the proceeds of the Help for the Homeless campaign far surpassed any other year.  I do not think there was a dry eye in the building as all of us stood in awe of the many donations to sort and distrubute among the 14 receiving agencies.  Once more, we have a generous supply of hygiene products for our residents, cleaning supplies for our facilities and enough laundry and dish soap to gest us through many months ahead."  -Cindy Sahotsky, Executive Director, COTS Inc, Appleton

"We were overwhelmed at the generosity of the community. The really cool thing is that the volume of this donation helps us with administrative costs. It saves us many hours of asking and coordinating other organizations, schools, etc. to do a drive for us. That way the hours can be spent on larger projects. Most importantly, it allows us to spend more money on direct financial assistance for those in need with basics such as housing, utilities and transportation."
Julie Coenen, Leaven
