Homemade Boursin

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon dill weed
1 teaspoon chives, chopped
Cracked black or lemon pepper (optional)

Blend cream cheese with garlic, basil, dill weed and chives.
Pat into a round flat shape. Lightly roll all sides in pepper if desired.

To shape, lay a sheet of saran in the bottom of a round bowl, then spoon into the bowl, pressing down so the cheese takes the shape of the bowl.
Flatten the top and lay the saran over it. Keep in the fridge until needed. When ready to serve unfold the saran, then place the inverted bowl on a serving dish or platter, lift the bowl and remove the saran.

Serve with crackers, crostini, toast points or slices of French Bread. Can be a dip for celery sticks or bread sticks or used to stuff mushrooms!

Alternate recipe or a guide (permission!) to add your favorite spices.
8 oz cream cheese, regular or light, softened
1 stick butter or margarine, softened
¾ to 1 tsp. minced garlic or more to taste, or minced garlic chives
½ tsp. each dry herbs, or more to taste: oregano, thyme, marjoram, basil, dill
Palmful of minced watercress or ½ tsp. black pepper or dash cayenne pepper
