Cracker Toffee

Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Prepare a jelly roll pan by lining bottom and sides with aluminum foil and buttering the aluminum foil.
Completely cover the foil with a single layer of rectangular, wafer-style crackers. (ex. Waverly wafers)

In a small, heavy bottomed pan, melt
    1 cup butter with
    1 cup sugar

Boil for 3 minutes.

Carefully spread butter and sugar mixture evenly over wafers and bake, on the middle rack of the oven, for 8 minutes.
It will get bubbly and turn a toffee color.

Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with a 9 ounce pkg. of Chocolate Chips. Let them sit a couple minutes and as they melt, gently spread them over the crackers.

Quickly sprinkle with chopped nuts while the chocolate is still soft, and press them in so they stick.

Cool completely and break into pieces. It’s soooo good!

Notes:

-Have each step prepared, nuts chopped, chocolate ready, before you begin.
-Semi sweet or milk chocolate chips are both yummy!
-I use walnuts or pecans for the nuts.
-Sometime I put the pan back in the oven for - no more than a minute - to help melt the chocolate and have it gooey enough that the nuts stick.
