2/3 cup butter
2/3 cup brown sugar
2/3 tsp. baking soda
1 1/3 cup flour
1 1/3 cup oatmeal
1-14 oz. bag of caramels
1/8 to ¼ cup milk
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup mixed nuts
Pre-heat oven 350 degrees
Cream together butter, sugar and baking soda.
Add flour and oatmeal, stir to a crumbly mixture.
Reserving ½ cup crumb mix for topping, press remainder into a 9x13 pan.
Melt caramels and milk until smooth.
Pour over crust.
Top with chocolate chips, nuts and reserved oatmeal mixture.
Bake until bubbly about 20 minutes.
Karen’s side note - I used the 11 oz. bag of Kraft Caramel Bits and it worked out fine. Nobody noticed the missing 3oz. and no unwrapping caramels!
