Bacon Blue Burgers

from the kitchen of Melanie Streu,

1.5 lbs ground beef (Melanie uses Black Angus)
McCormick Grill Mates' garlic & herb seasoning
BBQ Sauce, something a little sweet
1 sweet onion, thinly sliced
blue cheese, crumbled
12 slices of bacon

Fry or grill bacon until crisp, drain and set aside.

Make burger into 6 patties.
Season patties with grill seasoning.
Grill, basting both sides with BBQ sauce as they cook.

While burgers are grilling, sauté onions in a small skillet with a little butter until they are soft and caramelized. Stir in a spoon of the BBQ sauce as onions are cooking.

Butter the buns and toast under the broiler.

When the burgers are done, serve on warm buns, topped with two strips of bacon, onions and about 1 Tblsp. of crumbled blue cheese. No other toppings needed.

Melanie says that if you know all your guests will enjoy the blue cheese, you can put the cheese inside the patties before you grill then. They were delicious either way.

It's a juicy combination of sweet, tangy, salty, a bit of crunch. SO tasty!!

~ Key is a garlic seasoning, sweet barbecue sauce, bacon and blue cheese, each ingredient brings its own sass and there is a flavor symphony going on here!
